“One of my philosophy professors lectured wildly about love once, yelling: “When you’re in love with someone, that person is the lighthouse of your universe.” (I scrawled it inside Science and Poetry in pencil—lighthouse of your universe—as if I would ever forget that phrase.) He was a delightful caricature of his position. I could swear he literally tore his hair out while howling at us. He went on, “Nothing means as much without that person.”
One of the men in the class repeated, incredulous, half-laughing “so you’re saying you can’t enjoy, like, a vacation, without someone if you’re really in love with them?”
“Of course not.” the professor replied. “Not completely. You recognize beauty, but beauty means less if they don’t witness it with you. Beauty is less. You see something sublime and your first thought is that they should be there with you. It’s not as good without them. They illuminate. They make everything more.”—
I figured that if there was something to blog about, it would be the amazingness of our show that happened on Thursday. It went amazingly, so very worth all the work and stress. The bands were all awesome, and Koufax was extremely nice! Plus they liked us a lot, they said they have never been treated so nicely. The whole thing was a success in my book. I am glad it’s over for the semester, but I look forward to doing things in the summer and next year, the feeling of accomplishmet and joy of being at your show that is running smoothly…. It’s great.
Other news, I’m home for Easter. I, as always, have so much schoolwork to do but am having a hard time bringing myself to do it. 20 page thesis? Really, no thanks. Ugh. It’s nice to be home with the family though, I’ll be going back to school early tomorrow. I’ll work more on my thesis and my other paper…. AND my quiz.
Yesterday we (the family) went out and about quite a bit. The plan was to go to a coffee shop to get some work done but they were all so crazily busy and packed. We finally ended up at a panera which seemed like a good idea and the soup bowl was good but not as good as usual. Then the interent went out after like 10 minutes and it just stayed broken. We couldn’t get any work done and we all became a little testy. But as soon as we left we were happy again, we met Adrian in Royal Oak and did a lot of walking around and conveniently did a little shopping!
First I got a leather bracelet that is a flower. I guess I should explain it as a flower, seperate petals and such, made out of leather. It’s quite splendid. Next! I got amazing shoes! I am a tad in love with them. They have a classis plain black with white trim look, but they’re made from 100% recycled materials! Like tires, plastic bottles, organic cotton (ok not recycled but sustainable), and hemp (ditto). I went into the store to look around and everything was crazy on sale and these were all I liked and they were in my size on display so I tried it on. Found out they were the last ones at were one of the shoes on the 75% area. It was meant to be.
Thats all I have! I got my Jamesy a little something, I can’t help it, I like to buy him things.
